Context
Bernard Munyagishari was employed by the Insurance Company SONARWA in Gisenyi city as a reward for his active participation in the MRND (National Republican Movement for Democracy and Development) political party at the local level. He served as Secretary General of the MRND political party for Gisenyi city and as President of the Interahamwe for Gisenyi prefecture for the period from 1992 through 1994. The Interahamwe were officially the youth wing of the MRND.
